The R&D of the Ultra-Fast MCP-PMTs for High Energy Physics

Micro-channel plate photomultiplier tube (MCP-PMT) is a kind of photosensitive device with single photon detection capability and great time resolution, which also called Fast-PMT (FPMT). The characteristic MCP makes the MCP-PMT capable reaching spatial resolution multi-anodes. With experience successfully R&D 20-inch MCP-PMT, researchers in IHEP are now developing multi-anodes FPMT resolution. By now, single-anode, 2×2 anodes, 4×4 anodes 8×8 prototypes have been produced. fast-timing test system, performance these has tested. best TTS can reach 76 ps for photoelectron 15 multi photoelectrons.
